very good start, it lacks something like some good strings to make it more intense. the bassline is pretty good too. it's a bit basic like you said so yourself, but it doesnt need that much more, just some extra instruments and the end the beats/percussions could use a little more energy by double-layering some additional percussions. it's pretty catchy and I wonder how you're gonna fit good vocals to this one.
