This is one of my earliest work on Reason. I just wanted to make realisitic songs so I found (a bit randomly) the Orkester Sound Bank that holds a hundreds of realistic classical instruments. This one features : * Taiko drums; * Organs; * Violins & cellos; * Brasses (tuba & horns); * Flutes (sounds more fifes imo). It's also a multi-mood song ... 0:00 - 0:53 : Happy thing 0:56 - 2:04 : Sad-ish thing 2:17 - 2:43 : Thrilling atmosphere 2:43 - 3:10 : (a bit) Sad again 3:17 - 3:46 : Mad Circus! 3:46 -> End : Apotheose I thought it could be an awesome soundtrack for a movie or else (it's greatly inspired by Hans Zimmer). I'd be really pleased if you could drop a little comment, cuz this kinda soundtrack is unusual for me, and I'd be also entertained if one of you core-guys would have wanted to make a remix of this ! :D
found your first Sad-ish thing rather good, and the end part as well. maybe separate the parts and and work them out more. good stuff, though a bit to bombastic for my taste
WTF janus xD Hmm keep the concept but try to make it some aphex :P
Thanks guys ! :D
hmm, I like the idea, but imo you can get a lot more realistic with reason that this. especially the high violins in the happy thing sound terrible. but composition wise.. very good job, interesting movements and melodies here. So I'd work on making it all sound a lot less midi like. Try to listen to a real orchestra so you can recreate that sound. (and a tip, when I make a soundtrack in reason, I try to avoid the high violins in general from that particular soundbank. Actually imo only the cello sounds are worth using :p.) but really, interesting composition you have here, I hope you'll make it sound better so it'd be even more enjoyable!
there are some usefull melodies and compositions in there. But some instruments, especially the high toned ones, sound horrible. Humanise!
get a vst host and use kontakt libraries.. ive been using reason for a long time and those standard soundlibs included are far from good.. Your song has verry interesting things going on.. now if you had a good soundlibrary i'm sure it would be even much better.
