OK, it’ been a long time since I finished a song and posted it. Mainly cause I was experimenting with samples and styles on this one. The samples gave me a hard time, so I went back of doing things the old way. I also wanted to make a shoegazer-song, but I guess it turned out to be a typical Threat of Dawn-song. So both experiments failed… I finished the music more or less before going on holiday in July. On my holidays, I got really sick and got stuck for nearly 4 weeks in a Tibetan-Chinese hospital. Luckily the machine that injected medicine in my body made a ticking-sound of about 110bpm. And so I wrote the words of this song in my hospital bed on the beat of that machine’s ticking-sound. The words talk about being in one room with a strange old man who you can’t understand for far to long. It makes you lose your head!! We communicated with strange gestures mainly. Very hard!! Anyway; this song is my way of saying “thank you” to the people who sacrificed half of a very expensive holiday-trip to take care of me in that insane Tibetan-Chinese hospital (read: madhouse). EDIT 25-10-2006: Final version, Beter soundquality, bit louder. http://www.thethreatofdawn.be.tt/
it's strange to imagine a song like this in such a background you described :) what i mean that if it were me i would probably imagine something much darker and sader.. This is more relaxing ... Can you transcribe the poem ? I dont understand everything ^^ it's beautiful :)
for Bedlam, the words: The words came sinking through the seiling Soft and slowly drifting down like snowflakes through a dark-grey winter sky Twirling and turning and tumbling around from "wall" to "(l)law" from "dog" to "god" No sence to be found, no meaning behind The milions of words that came tumbling down Those oh so white and wintery skies. The words were dancing through the air Like flies in a chinese hospitalroom To fast to be read, to tired to read In dreams they might tell me what I need to know. As I woke from this strange disturbing dream, I saw an old man in his hospitalroom He had gathered his flowers on the window ledge and then he turned to me and softly said: I'll see you again,no I don't know when, I just know deepdown somehow I'll see you again,no I don't know when, I'll just turn the flowers for now...
Very happy to ear TTOD again.Good melody.
