Changes apply immediately
I created this topic to stop the everyday discussions about "a decent song description" which is requested to host your music in the electrobel community.
Why is this important?
If songs hosted on electrobel consist only about the authors name and a short song title, electrobel risks to become very fast an anonymous song catalogue with absolutely no character. Tons of such sites existed and disappeared in oblivion. Just think of the once famous mp3.com. Electrobel is a community of electronic musicians... not a song cheap hosting platform.
**What kind of description is expected? **
Not much, but at least one or more phrases:
a) describing the song as such, or b) describing the idea behind the song, or c) expressing a (senseful) feeling brought with your song, or d) telling a story, or f) setting a situation, or g) ... whatever.. but write something senseful
Why has the description to be in ENGLISH?
English is the vehicle language of Electrobel.be which assembles users from Wallonia, Brussels, Flanders, Luxembourg and many other, very different origins. ENGLISH is a compromise to keep Electrobel accessible to everybody.
You got trouble with english? Use one of these: http://www.reverso.net/text_translation.asp?lang=FR or http://translate.google.com/
** What is NO GO?**
In general, descriptions featuring only: album name, song title, "for my girlfriend", project name or a musical genre.
In detail, descriptions similar to these:
*sale ptit song,av les moyens du bord BreakBeat / hardcore tropical rainforests oldskool vollenbak!!!! test ... next, after 2H Science - Revolution / The World EP Zoyakcalëcteoeuszap break easy then zap 2 the core! go break yourself in core hard very break-core!! aaaahh....ouaaahouèeehhh...heuh... Industry electro rock, with FL studio. i don't know ... !? S a p a w x x w x, grrr !!! Hihaaa !?! *
or these:

i understand for the song descriptions but for a title you should have creative freedom ;)
whooo, last pic is my description. sorry dude, didn't know some dots were illigal. i just used them to seperate the remix thing from the general description. i'll keep it in mind next time...
but i agree with particle. i don't think a song should be rejected because of teh titel, that would be against freedom of speech, unless someone is offended offcourse. i mean, look at aphex's titles, would they be rejected here?

ok for me, but I cannot change the topic title anymore. As you noticed the titles are not mentionned in this sense in the post.

1)No songs were rejected coz of the title as far as I know. 2) Noone said dots were illegal. The song description just doesnt match what is said in the post above.
ambient try-out i'm new to this style, trying new things and such. nothing much for now, a kick, a snare a synth or 3, lots of fx... ... ... ... owyeah, akwalek might be remixing this, something to look forward too ...
==> was the original descreption -it describes the son; an ambient tryout -describes the idea behind it; trying new things -something senseful: what i used -is in english
=> all conform to what's expected, the only thing i come up with is the telegraph-style, and the dots...
i really don't wanna nag about this, it's just that i really don't see where i went wrong on it. i just want it cleared out, or i'll be concerned with my descriptions every time i fill in one :p
the first part was glued to the above song. title appeared as "..." and description as: "... ... owyeah, akwalek might be remixing this, something to look forward too ..."
Please appologize my negligence.

LOL, no problem mate, no need to apologize, could happen to everyone, just a flaw in the system i guess. glad this is solved, i really didn't get the whole ordeal, i really thought it were the dots :D ^^
no hard feelings, if there were any at all...
cheerio
well, tbh. i'm not really a fan of the song description-thingie neither ... in most cases, there just isn't any sensefull story to explain, nor a meaningfull expression to give when i make a tune ... let be that it would make any kind of sense ... (anyone who has ever listened to my tunes will surely understand what i'm saying here ^^)
i just fill in the 'song description-part' cause my mate Liquid asks so ... and frankly ... to me, thats reason enough to make a little effort.
woow elfen is back !! thats nice :p Sincerely im not fan about the song description too, the idea is to make a good mix between the image we give to the listeners, make the site user friendly and have lot of visits, so the producers here will have more chance to be booked or viewed by some labels, and the self expression, the artistic desire from the artist, sometimes a text is not needed off course but we v e got to make the good mix between thoose two things imho, and even more if liquidass ask it... i would do it fo shizzle ma nizzle ^^
