this tune kind of happened to me.. i started it this morning and couldn't stop. it has no drums or any major effect.. so it's also kinda out of the ordinary. also, because i lack any musical education, these melodies are all trial and error.. and as this being my first real track done with ableton live, i consider it as a small accomplishment myself. now i hope you like it as well.. oh yeah, this was done with whatever was available as standard in ableton.. i think the strings could be improved, but hey.. i'm wondering if this'll get as much attention as the drillstep, idmcore and what not :)
The "guitar-synth" in my left ear in the beginning sounds too mono, think for this kind of music it should sound really eery, some more depth and reverb to it...make it sound a tad more distant. The mermaid/siren synth is really nice, but yeah you could have it sound fuller too. Like you said, it's all standard sounds, think you should spend more time on digging deeper here. I would lose the organ-like synth and replace that one by something else, it doesn't really fit. Choir pads in the background really nice, suit the track well...I always like that kind of pads. Well yeah I suppose this was a track to discover the abilities and sounds in Ableton, you got a nice beginning here, think now's the time to dig deeper into this one. Spend more time on warmer synths or at least try to give more flavour to the track, it sounds too mono/hollow/dry whateva you wanna call it ;-) Also, the ending should be a lot more worked out, I was like "huh...that's it?" I sense some oriental vibes here, goodgood, maybe you could replace the "acoustic guitar" from the beginning by some Japanese plucks, I dunno...just some thoughts huh.
@rabauw, thanks for your effort to comment.. really appreciate it.. i don't really know what to do now. thing is, i got very different comments to this tune (not posted on ebel). i understand what you mean, and i think i'm gonna give it a go. @the thumbdowner.. okay.. but why? especially comments about why tracks get a thumb down are interesting!
verry nice one. there are only a couple of notes/harmonys that I would put differently,only details really. as mentioned before its really nice to hear your more-melodic and harmonic side. nice description,really nice to see you got a lot of satisfaction from this :) the thumb down is probably someone thinking this track is too fragile,me'h. greets!
